Tools: Containers and Knife Blocks

When cubes and I cook, we like having all of our utensils close at hand. Before our wedding we had two containers full of tools. After our wedding, we had more utensils - sushi mats, tongs, a Microplane, and more - and no place for them.

In mid-January, I decided to get another stoneware crock. I narrowed the choices to 5 crocks that I found on Etsy. Initially I'd thought that I'd tuck the new crock into the back corner. I ended up not liking how scattered the counter looked so put everything together.

The crock on the left is an antique estimated to be from the late 1880s, gifted to me by my grandparents as a housewarming gift. I wanted a second crock that would complement it. I chose the middle crock of the five I'd considered. After some rearranging all of our utensils now fit nicely.

How do you keep your utensils organized? In drawers or, like me, on your counters?
