I have a confession. I own two - not one - slow cookers. When I lived at the Owen Graduate Hall in East Lansing, I used a slow cooker almost daily. It was great to come home to the smells of either a Thai soup or curry. With cubes' new schedule at work, we often don't start cooking dinner until after 7:30PM; this means having meals ready when we walk in the door is crucial. So after not winning a copy of America's Test Kitchen's Slow Cooker Revolution, I decided it was time to order it.
Along with it, I expanded our collection of reference books. Lately as I've been modifying or creating recipes, I've been frequently referring to The Flavor Bible (a wedding gift). To stretch my creativity, I've added The Flavor Thesaurus: A Compendim of Pairings, Recipes and Ideas to my bedside reading.
What's sitting on your bedside table?
