Ever since I saw these Drink, Sip, and Cheers Couroc trays on The Haunted Lamp last week I've been hooked. Call Me Jasper (one of the online vintage shops I stalk) even just listed one.

As I was searching for other Couroc serving trays I realized it had been awhile since I featured a round up of fun and glamorous typed accessories. With parties on my mind, today's roundup are accessories for the bar - cocktail napkins and cocktail shakers.

Weekly Wrap: Put a Bow or a Label on It

I find that I'm much more likely to cook, as well as enjoy it, if I start with a well organized kitchen. Some neat things I saw recently that might be making an appearance in our kitchen soon.

The pages of my cookbooks have post-it notes peeking out from all angles. One thing I tend to forget to do is clean up after myself when I've finished with them. If left too long, the adhesive leaves a residue on the page. When I came across these paper clips, I knew I had a new way to mark recipes.

One thing that drives my husband crazy is that he can never find anything. As we get new gadgets or small appliances, I re-tetris the kitchen cabinets, drawers, and countertops for maximum efficiency. Vinyl decals from Hommu, if repositionable, might make the kitchen more accessible. (I've moved our french press and water glasses two times so far since we moved into our apartment.)

Ingredients: My Favorite Thing for Monday Morning

Last week we ran out of coffee. On Thursday and Friday, we drank decaf coffee when we woke up. We could have run to the nearby Safeway and picked up some beans, but we're coffee snobs. Our local favorite is Blue Bottle Coffee's Bella Donovan.

Weekly Wrap: Type in the Kitchen

This week primary colors and type caught my eye. Specifically these juice glasses from Crate and Barrel that feature letters as fruit. And these napkins from Oh Little Rabbit and hand towels from the MOMA feature illustrations reminiscent of 1950s cookbooks.

Retro Kitchen: Everything in its Place

This past Saturday we soft opened our pet project Blanchisserie Americain. When creating the logo, I drew inspiration from the 1950s. I wanted a font that was very simple yet conveyed classic elegance. The fonts used by GarnerWare and Lincoln BeautyWare with tight kerning captivated the most.

Retro Kitchen: Alphabet Soup

On the train ride in this morning I was trying to get inspired by type. Specifically type that conveyed elegance, refinement, and class. While casually scanning Etsy I noticed lots of sans serif fonts.

As it was a cold morning, soup and chili captured and held my attention. (The perfect decor if we were opening a soup counter truck.)

Unlike the Lincoln BeautyWare or GarnerWare labeled canisters, the fonts on soup and chili bowls tended to be more casual and more frequently paired with muted earthen colors.

If you're looking for vintage casual dining that reminds you of homecooked meals or are throwing a soup-themed potluck/cook off/shower, do a little digging on Etsy. Green mugs ranged in price from $7.25 via Honey Brown Vintage to $9 via Rainy Penguin Vintage to $14 via The Vintageholic Frog for one soup mug. Read descriptions carefully to see whether or not the bowls are still food safe.

Some vendors offered two or more mugs of the same color or different. 

Autumn Always offered green and orange soup mugs for $14.

Recycle Buy Vintage offered two tan mugs for $16.99.

Gallivanting Girls offered three tan soup mugs for $18.

Vintage Caravan offered two chili mugs for $14.

Type was also frequently paired or filled with clip art vegetables.
